Mandore Gardens
Mandore is located 9 km from Jodhpur and was the erstwhile capital of Marwar. The Mandore Gardens give visitors a peep into the history of the region, and the ruins of the former capital are housed within the extensive Mandore Gardens.
The Mandore Gardens are replete with high rock terraces and you can also find intricate cenotaphs of various rulers of Jodhpur within the precincts of the Garden. Amongst the various cenotaphs found in the Mandore Gardens, the pride of place is taken by the memorial of Maharaja Ajit Singh.
The other attractions of the sprawling gardens include the fascinating ‘Hall of Heroes” and a modern shrine that is dedicated to an unbelievable 30 Crore gods. Bright paintings depicting episodes in the life of folk heroes like Chamunda and Pabuji also grace the Mandore Gardens.
The principal attraction of these gardens is the Marwar festival that is held in its grounds every year.
Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh
The Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh can be translated to “The Garden for the Queen of Sisodia”. This garden is actually a collection of several landscaped gardens that were developed in the 18th and 19th centuries by the various kings of Jaipur and their courtiers.
However, the first and the original Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh is one of the most famous and largest gardens in Rajasthan. It was built by Sawai Jai Singh II for his Sisodia Queen. Beautiful fountains, exquisite water courses and splendid pavilions grace the garden and take the beauty of the Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh to another level altogether.
Vidyadhar Garden
Vidyadhar Garden, situated near the Sisodia Gardens of Jaipur, it is a beautiful vineyard dedicated to Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya, the architect of the city of Jaipur who planned the town using the principles laid down in the Shilpa Shastra (an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture). These tiered gardens house several galleries, pavilions and lovely murals depicting scenes from the life of Lord Krishna.
