Jodhpur
Famously referred to as the Blue City, Jodhpur is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the desert state of Rajasthan in India. The city was founded in 1459 AD by Rao Jodha, a chief of the Rathore clan and was named after him. Umaid Bhawan
Built in the 20th century, Umaid Bhawan is one of the most exquisite palaces to visit during a travel to Rajasthan in India. The palace also houses a museum that showcases a rich collection of weapons, costumes, trophies and other royal paraphernalia. The museum also boasts of an interesting collection of clocks. Mehrangarh Fort
This military structure was built by Rao Jodha and is touted as one of the most impressive forts in India. It also houses many exquisite structures like the Phool Mahal, Daulat Khana, Moti Mahal and the Sheesh Mahal. Another interesting aspect of the fort is that it houses the second largest canon in Asia besides an interesting museum with a rich display of books and handicrafts.
Balsamand Lake
This artificial lake was constructed in 1159 AD. Today, it is a popular picnic spot that attracts many locals and tourists. Next to the lake is the Balsamand Palace that was constructed by Maharaja Sur Singh in 1936.
Other attractions of Jodhpur are the Government Museum, Mandore Garden, Nehru Park, Baba Ramdeo Temple and the Chamunda Mataji Temple among others.
