Jaipur
The “pink city" is a splendid mix of colors and delightful sights that dazzle the senses. No wonder, tourists from across the world make a beeline for Jaipur that is also a part of the famous “golden triangle” tourist circuit of India. Speaking of the tourist attractions in Jaipur, the list is indeed a long one. Besides it has always been maintained that a travel to Rajasthan in India is never complete without a trip to Jaipur. Hawa Mahal
This architectural wonder is famously referred to as the “palace of winds” and was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799 AD. An important historical landmark in Jaipur, the Hawa Mahal adds up to a very mesmerizing sight with its beehive like structure. The delicate lattice work and stone screens that adorn the structure are testimonies to the artistic genius of the craftsmen who worked on them.
Jantar Mantar
This astronomical observatory was built between 1728 and 1734 under the supervision of Maharaj Sawai Jai Singh II. It happened that Sawai Jai Singh was commissioned by sultan Muhammad Shah to gauge the accuracy of the existing astronomical tables and make the necessary corrections. Sawai Jai Singh took nearly seven years to work on the assignment and finally the Jantar Mantar was built, based on the research made by him and his men.
City Palace
One of the most important tourist attractions of Rajasthan, the City Palace is a treat to the eyes. The royal family of Jaipur still resides in a part of the palace, but the rest is open to public access. The palace houses a museum that displays a rich collection of arms, weapons, costumes, manuscripts, carpets, miniature paintings and so on.
Amber Fort
Among the most important tourist attractions of Jaipur, this fort was built in the 16th century and is a fine example of Rajput and Mughal styles of architecture. It also houses many exquisite structures that are sure to interest many.
Jaigarh Fort
Offering majestic views of the Amber Fort, Jaigarh houses the largest wheeled canon in the world that is known as Jaivana. Other attractions of the fort include an in-house museum and three huge water tanks.
Other tourist attractions in Jaipur include the Jai Mahal, Sisodia Rani ka Bagh, Nahargarh Fort and the famous Albert Hall Museum among others.
