Jaipur
Also known as the “pink city”, Jaipur is the administrative capital of Rajasthan. It is a city that is also a part of the famous “golden triangle” tourist circuit of India. Indeed, a visit to North India can never be considered complete without a visit to Jaipur. Speaking of its history, the city of Jaipur was established by Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727 AD.
Jaipur also boasts of numerous tourist attractions that draw tourists from all over the world. They include the Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Amber Fort and City Palace among others. The city also hosts many annual fairs and events like the Elephant Festival and the Kite Festival.
Udaipur
The “city of lakes” Udaipur is a fascinating collage of beautiful palaces, historical monuments, colorful bazaars and delightful sceneries. One of the most beautiful cities of Rajasthan, Udaipur has a romantic appeal that is simply beyond words. Some of the important sights in Udaipur include the Lake Palace, City Palace, Saheliyon ki Bari, Lake Pichola and Fatehsagar Lake.
Jaisalmer
The “golden city” of Jaisalmer is known for its rich history and brave warriors who immortalized the ideals of honor and chivalry. The most important attraction of Jaisalmer is its fortress made of yellow sandstone. A good number of fairs and festivals are held all around the year in Jaisalmer, the Desert Festival being the most important of all. Full of interesting sights and exciting activities, the desert festival of Jaisalmer attracts a good number of visitors every year.
Ajmer
Home to the sacred dargah of Moinuddun Chisti, Ajmer was established somewhere in the 7th or 6th century. The city also boasts of many elite educational institutions. Other attractions of Ajmer include the annual Urs festival and Adhai din ka jhopra, an architectural marvel. Ajmer is also known for its perfumes known as attar.
Jodhpur
Jodhpur that is famously referred to as the “blue city” is the second largest city of Rajasthan. A popular tourist destination, Jodhpur is home to many attractions like the Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant Thada and the Kaman Art Gallery among others.
Other cities of Rajasthan are Bikaner, Chittorgarh, Barmer, Alwar, Mount Abu, Bundi, Bharatpur and so on.
