Albert Hall Museum
Albert Hall Museum lies within the environs of the Ram Niwas Gardens in Jaipur. The garden also houses a zoo, an aviary, a sports ground, and a greenhouse. Albert Hall in Jaipur is also known as the Central museum. It is modelled on the Victoria and Albert museum in London.
The beautiful Gardens were commissioned by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II in 1868. The Albert Hall museum has an Anglo-Indian style of architecture. It is a beautiful mixture of both type of architecture.
The Albert Hall museum was designed by Colonel Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob. The museum houses a treasure trove of art objects and that span the long history of Rajasthan. The collection of the museum reflects the various facets of Rajasthan’s art and culture.
The Albert Hall museum, Japur, has a collection of decorative wares, metal ware, sculptures, arms, weaponry, specimens of the flora and fauna of Rajasthan, royal ceremonial robes and costumes, amongst various other things. The vast collection of the museum also has various sculpture dating from 8th century B.C onwards.
