Mandi is another famous place in Himachal Pradesh. It is well known as the place of 81 old temples whose architecture is done in stone. The temples comprise of fine carving. It is a place where notable numbers of colonial buildings are situated. Manali is a hill station which offers breathtaking views of valleys, forests and mountains. It is a perfect honeymoon destination.
Dharamshala is situated at the foothills of Dhauladhar. It offers enchanting views of pine and deodhar forests, snow covered peaks and expansive tea gardens. Dharamshala is connected with Buddhism and Hinduism from ancient times. It is another famous hill station in Himachal Pradesh. The two valleys namely, Pangi and Chamba possess untouched beauty. They are known as valleys of streams, honey and milk.
Other than the hill stations, Himachal Pradesh comprises of large numbers of lakes. Amongst the man made lakes, Gobind Sagar and Maharana Pratap Sagar are most famous. The Gobind Sagar Lake is built on Sutlej River. The area surrounding the Maharana Pratap Sagar Lake is declared as a bird sanctuary. The lake is also open for various water sports such as boating, water skiing and many more. There are almost 15 lakes in Himachal Pradesh which are located at high altitudes. The water in many of these lakes freezes during the winter season.
