The state has a large number of flights that operate on a daily level to cater to the needs of the tourists. The state currently has three airports namely Pantnagar and the Dehradun airport and the Jolly Grant Airport. All of the above airports are connected to the capital city of the country i.e. Delhi. These airports can be easily reached both by road and rail.
The airports form the backbone of the aviation department of the State. Recently there have been various projects which have been undertaken for the upgradation of these airports so that they can even cater to the needs of the bigger jets like B-737 and A-320.
The tourists can also use helicopters to travel to the nearby tourist destinations like Hemkund Sahib and Ghangharia.
