Getting Around by Road in Goa
|
Goa is well connected to all the major states in India via the National Highways NH4A, NH17 and NH17A. The Kadamba bus stand at Panaji has several state transport corporation buses of those from Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka which operate regularly connecting Goa with the nearby states via road. There are many private luxury buses also available which connect Goa via road to many major states and cities.
There are several private buses which operate within the city including local taxis and rickshaws for taking you to nearby places. The motorcycle taxis are popular and a unique experience for tourists which enable one to travel within the city at almost half the rates charged by auto rickshaws. These motorcycle taxis are driven by pilots and carry just one passenger at a time. They are recognized by their yellow mudguards and yellow number plates.
Several mopeds, scooters, bicycles and motorbikes can be hired by tourists which gives them freedom to explore the place at their own pace. Such facilities are available all through the year at most beach areas and the rate varies depending on the season and the time for which the vehicle is used.
