Jammu & Kashmir is the state blessed by the Gods, as it is surrounded by some of the highest mountains in the world, the mighty Himalayas and is the land of immense natural beauty. Set amidst the picturesque setting of Himalayas, Amar Mahal Museum is an epitome of royal magnificence and grandeur. The Amar Mahal Museum forms a major part of the majestic Amar Palace that has a French touch in its architectural style. Charar-e-Sharif is one of the shrines revered by both Hindus and Muslims, as this shrine is dedicated to Sheikh Nooruddin who was arguably one of the greatest mystic saints of Kashmir.
The Hari Parbat Fort situated on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar houses the Muslim shrines of Akhund Mullah Shah and Khwaja Makhdoom Saheb. The Martand Sun Temple is one of the most excellent and memorable temple built in the honor of Sun God or Bhaskar. The Thicksey Monastery is situated at an altitude of about 3600 meters above sea level. It is considered to be the main monastery among the other Buddhist monasteries of this region. Peer Khoh is a cave shrine situated on the circular road 3.5 kms from Jammu. It is believed that the Shiva Lingam is being formed naturally in this cave. The Surinsar Mansar wildlife sanctuary is surrounded by the Mansar and Surinsar Rivers on its two sides. This wildlife sanctuary comprises of 15 species of birds and 8 species of mammals.
